The sun did not shine. It was too wet to play. So we sat in the house all that cold, cold, wet day. That is the first page from Dr. Seuss's The Cat in the Hat. How did the The Cat in the Hat really begin?

The Cat in the Hat was the creation of Theodor Geisel. He is better known as Dr. Seuss. The cat character came to be after Geisel read an article. The article was from Life magazine in 1954. The author of the article said that kids were not interested in reading because the books were not exciting. The children could not relate to the stories. After reading this, Geisel knew what had to be done.
