Inauguration Day is about a new president taking office. The day is filled with ceremony. Of course, there's a celebration, too. What happens, though, to the one leaving office that day?
That's an old question. How old? It goes way back. George Washington was there as John Adams took over, but it was still awkward. People were paying a lot of attention to Washington. However, it was not his special day! After that, leaving presidents tried to keep a low profile.
