The fallen leaves crunched beneath my feet as I walked across the dew-covered grass. The early morning fog made the walk to school seem a bit eerie. A strange feeling suddenly came over me. I grabbed my sister. "Stop," I said in my spookiest voice as I pointed toward the ground. "Something's happening down there. I think that there's dead and decayed stuff right beneath my feet." My sister froze in fear. When she realized what I was up to, she giggled and swatted at my backpack.
"Of course there is, you knucklehead. We are standing on soil, and it contains humus! I think yesterday's science lesson finally clicked," she teased. She was right. I finally got it, and I finally got her. She is so fun to tease!
