Hadrosaurs, the Duckbilled Dinosaurs

We call them the duckbilled dinosaurs, but their real name is hadrosaurids (HAD-ruh-sore-ids). They had long wide snouts. Their mouths ended with a broad beak that looked like a duck's bill.

Duckbills ate plants. They had extra rows of teeth in their jaws. When one tooth broke off or fell out, another tooth moved into its place. They had as many as sixty stacks of three to five teeth stored behind the ones they were using.

One kind of duckbill had a flat head. Another kind had a head with a bony crest on top. These may have been used to make sounds to communicate with other dinosaurs of their herd.
