Green Snakes
Snakes are animals known as reptiles. Snakes have no arms or legs. All reptiles have skin made up of scales. The scales are clean and dry. When the snake grows, it must shed its skin. It grows new skin in a bigger size!
Snakes are called cold-blooded. This means that the air temperature decides what their body temperature is. If the air is too cold or too warm, the snake might die. Snakes hibernate in cold weather. They sleep through the cold winter. Their heartbeat slows down.
Green snakes are found throughout the United States, southern Canada, and northern Mexico. These snakes are hard to see. They blend in with their surroundings. Their bodies are bright green on top. They have pale yellow-white bellies. They are sometimes called grass snakes.
