Gila Monsters
If I told you that there was a real life monster that has scaly skin and a mouth full of poison, would you believe me? What if I told you that this monster has strong claws and can swallow its prey whole? Would you believe that this monster really exists? Well, you should...sort of!
The monster that I am describing may sound like something from a movie. But it is not. I am talking about a Gila monster. Though their name may sound frightening, Gila monsters are not really monsters at all. They are a type of lizard. Like all reptiles they have scaly skin and are cold blooded. But don't worry; these monsters don't live under your bed or in your closet. They live in the deserts of Mexico and the southwestern United States.
