George Washington
George Washington was our first president. He was born on February 22, 1732. He was born in Virginia. Not much is known about his childhood. George was a serious boy. He was very thoughtful. He joined the military at a young age. He served for about ten years. Then he married his wife. Her name was Martha. Their home was named Mount Vernon. George was happy here. Then the American Revolution began. George was asked to be a leader in the war. He became the leader of the army. George was a skilled military man. George wanted to retire at his farm when the war was over. But, he could see that the new country still needed a leader. .....
