Game Over!

Do you know how to play chess? Would you like to be the World Chess Champion? Would you like to play chess against a computer? Would you like to lose if you played the computer? Garry Kasparov did all these things before he was thirty-three years old!

Kasparov was born in Azerbaijan on April 13, 1963. His parents both loved chess. He began to study chess with tutors when he was very young. By the time he was twenty-two years old, he was the World Chess Champion in 1985.

While Kasparov was becoming the best chess player in the world, some college students were working on a computer. The computer played chess. A company named IBM hired the students to improve their computer. IBM wanted a chess machine that could win against the world champion.
