Charles Schulz created the Peanuts comic strip. He was born on November 26, 1922. He was born in Minnesota. Charles's uncle nicknamed him Sparky. He named him after a horse in a comic strip. Charles loved kindergarten. His teacher told him that one day he was going to be an artist. He believed her.


Charles did go to art school. Charles went off to war. He fought in World War II. When he came home, he worked for a magazine. He drew cartoons. Then he became a teacher. He made many friends. One of his friends was named Charlie Brown. He used that name in his cartoon. The name of his first comic strip was Li'l Folks.
