Follow the Leader...Arctic Wolf Style!
Have you ever played the game "Follow the Leader"? Did you know that arctic wolves play a version of this game too? In a wolf pack there are two leaders; an alpha male and an alpha female. The alphas in any wolf pack are usually the strongest members of the group. They are often the oldest, too! Every spring the alpha female is normally the only wolf to give birth to new pups. All members of the pack, however, help to take care of the young. The other pack members act like wolf babysitters. When the pups are one month old they are no longer dependent on their mother.
