Europe
Europe is the second-smallest continent. Only Australia is smaller. Europe is not a separate landmass. It is joined to Asia. They are sometimes called one continent named Eurasia. The Ural Mountains divide Europe from Asia. Parts of Russia and Turkey are in Europe. Parts of both countries are in Asia.
The Arctic Ocean borders Europe on the north. The Arctic Circle is a special line of latitude. It crosses the northern European countries of Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia.
To the west of Europe lies the Atlantic Ocean. To the south, the Mediterranean Sea separates Europe from Africa. About eleven percent of the world's people live in Europe. Only Asia and Africa have more people living there.
