Ellen Axson was born in Georgia in 1860. Ellen's parents believed that education was as important for girls as it was for boys. This was not a common opinion at the time. Ellen studied German and French. She studied art in New York City. Ellen met Woodrow Wilson. They fell deeply in love. However, they had to wait to get married. Woodrow had to finish his graduate degree. After he was done with this degree, he took a job as a professor. Woodrow and Ellen could finally get married. They had three daughters.
