Edvard Grieg
Some people have hidden talents that aren't obvious to those around them. Some of his teachers thought that Albert Einstein was stupid. Few people thought that a blind and deaf girl could succeed, but Helen Keller astounded everyone. Quiet Edvard Grieg, Norway's greatest composer, was called lazy when he was young.
Edvard Grieg was born on June 15, 1843, in Bergen, Norway. His mother was his first piano teacher. No one thought that Edvard had any special talent. A well-known violinist noticed Edvard and persuaded his parents to send Edvard to music school. The Leipzig Conservatory gave the talented young man the chance to study with great European music teachers when he was only 15.
Edvard studied piano first, and did well, but he had a hard time with his other subjects. He never liked the strict school schedule, but he decided to study hard so he could stay and pursue his music lessons. Young people sometimes do not enjoy giving performances, but Edvard loved giving recitals. With a lot of effort, he also ended up with good grades in all his classes. After four years, he finished his studies. He was a full-fledged musician at last.
