Drafters
Do you like to draw? Do you enjoy working on a computer? Are you good at math and science? Do you pay attention to details? Are you neat and accurate? Do you find it easy to talk to other people? If all these apply to you, you might be interested in becoming a drafter.
Drafters prepare the drawings and plans used to build things. The drawings may be of anything from toys and toasters to spacecraft and pipelines. Drafters' drawings are the visual guidelines. They show the technical details. They also give the measurements, materials, and procedures. Drafters work with architects, engineers, or artists.
At one time, drafters used pencils, pens, compasses, and other drafting tools to make a drawing by hand. Most drafters now use computers to prepare their drawings. They use computer-aided design (CAD) software. Sometimes drafters are called CAD operators. The CAD software uses computers to make drawings. Although most drafters use CAD a lot, they still have to know how to do the drawings by hand.
