"I'm here! Are you ready?" called Little Red Riding Hood.
"Yes, I'm ready," a glum Bo Peep answered as she came through a gate and pulled it closed.
"They're all gone again, huh?" said Red Riding Hood.
"Yeah, I'm so tired of waiting for those sheep to come home."
"I know how you feel. I'm tired of dealing with that wolf day after day, week after week."
"What time is our appointment with Old King Cole?" asked Bo Peep.
"Ten o'clock. We'd better hurry, it's not polite to be late," said Red Riding Hood.
Walking along the lane, they passed Cinderella's castle.
"Boy, I'd like to have her job," said Little Bo Peep. "She gets to marry the prince and live happily ever after. I'm stuck taking care of all those sheep. Everyday they get lost. Then they come home wagging their tails and looking for dinner."
"Yeah, I know. Why does she get the cushy job? The worst she has to deal with is her mean step-sisters. I have to go visit my grandmother and walk through those cold, dark woods all the time. Plus, she gets to wear such beautiful clothes. I'm tired of wearing this red cape. It's scratchy and not the most fashionable thing either," complained Red Riding Hood.
"What about me? I have to wear this silly hat and carry this big crook all day. Day after day, I have to be dressed in these frilly pantaloons. Yuck!" said Bo Peep with a scowl as she stomped along the lane.
When they reached Old King Cole's castle, a guard met them at the gate. "What is your business with the king?" he asked.
