"Ugh," I said to my sister Melody. "This is almost as bad as the time we had to clean out our lockers!"
"Almost, but not quite. Remember that Tommy had that sandwich in there for about six months."
"Oh, that's right. Peww!" I clamped my nose shut, remembering the stench.
Today, we were helping our mother clean out our refrigerator. Usually, we clean it about once per week, but we had had a very busy summer. I can't tell you how many weeks went by before we finally investigated what was in there!
We started with the crisper drawer. Of course, the things in there were no longer crisp.
"Yuck," Melody said as she picked up a wilted carrot. "This carrot is shriveled and moldy!"
"And take a look at this apple - or rather, what is left of it!" I replied.
"Eewww," she answered.
