What is electricity? We can't see it. We can't hear it. We can't smell it. Electricity comes from the atom. All things are made of tiny parts called atoms. Atoms have even smaller parts. One of these parts is the electron. Electrons have a negative electrical charge. Unlike electrical charges attract each other, so electrons are attracted to, or pulled toward, positive charges. When electrons move, an electric current flows. Electric current is the moving of electrons through a wire. Electric current flows like water in a river bed. The path of an electric current is called the circuit. Current can't flow unless the circuit is complete and unbroken. We use circuits to bring electricity into our homes.
