Cheer Yourself Up By Reaching Out

"Lynn is a compassionate person," Julian said.

"She sure is," Mary said.

Mary and Julian were watching Lynn from the other side of the gymnasium. The friends had all gathered to watch a summer basketball scrimmage for their school. Several students had come to the game to catch up with one another. Usually, all the popular kids hung out together. However, there were always a few individuals who stayed off to the side. These were the unpopular kids, many of whom were actually quite lonely.

Lynn had a habit of looking out for the lonely kids. Her friends often saw her going to sit with one of the less popular students or having lunch with small groups that were not considered to be part of the "in" crowd.

"I wonder why Lynn makes such an effort to do this," Julian said as he sipped on his sports drink.
