Everyone has a favorite meal when eating out. It's the kind of meal that puts you in a good mood every time that you eat it. But sometimes when you go out, you decide to get something different. Then five minutes after you have given your order, you wish you had ordered your favorite.
What can you do? Are you stuck with your first order? Of course you're not. If you change your mind, you can change your order.
The first thing you need to do is get your server's attention. Don't be rude when you call him over to the table. A simple "excuse me" as he walks by your table is usually enough.
When he comes to your table, explain that you would like to change your order. If you need a menu, ask that one be brought to you. Then order your new item. Be sure to tell the server what item you no longer want. Be very clear when you are changing your order. A server has several different tables to keep track of. Don't make it harder for him by being unclear or rude.
Changing your order may mean your food will take a little longer to arrive at your table. Make sure you think about any other people that you may be eating with. If they only have a short time to eat, they may not have time to wait. In that case, tell the server he can bring the other food when it is ready. Your friends may start eating before you, but you won't have to worry that changing your order made them late.
