Mrs. Smith was an older teacher with frizzy blue hair and matching blue eyes. She was never dull and often did things to entertain her rambunctious students. One day she even took out her dentures for show and tell! Today she told the students about a brand new game she called Catch the Word.
"I am going to have all of you sit in a big circle," said Mrs. Smith.
The teacher's white teeth formed a dazzling smile with bright red lips stretched thinly around its edges.
Wooden legs shrieked as the desks were pushed into place by energetic and curious students.
"Now, we are going to learn how to use a thesaurus," said Mrs. Smith.
The class groaned inwardly. That did not sound like a game at all!
"Can someone tell me what a thesaurus is?" asked Mrs. Smith.
Carolyn raised her hand. Carolyn always pursued academic excellence energetically. Her hand was an arrow shooting straight up to the ceiling with the powerful force of her desire to be the top student in the class.
