"Are you sure this is going to work?" Grace Martin asked Rachel as they carried uniforms to a back room to change.
"It had better work, or we'll find ourselves in a heap of trouble," answered Rachel. "It's a blessing that both of our husbands are of a similar size to each of us, or we wouldn't be able to fool anyone and further the cause of the Revolutionary War."
The uniforms were a little loose. Hairpins helped hold the women's long, dark locks in place under their hats.
"You look like a fine young man," said Rachel teasingly to her sister-in-law.
