Bryce Canyon

Bryce Canyon is in Utah. It got its name from a pioneer, Ebenezer Bryce. It is very rugged land, but it is very beautiful. Many people visit Bryce Canyon every year.

What makes Bryce Canyon different are its unusual rock formations. On top of the thousands of rock formations are sharp-looking points. These are called spires. They are also called "hoodoos." They have been made by rain, wind, and ice over thousands of years. Some people think the rock formations look like church towers.

The canyon has high rock formations and low, narrow valleys. Some people call Bryce Canyon a maze. Visitors enjoy walking its many trails.
