"Ahh," Teresa said to herself as she leaned back on the chaise lounge by the pool. "This is so nice."
Teresa had just gotten home from her summer job at a local fast-food place. She was very tired. It had been a long shift. The place kept the air conditioning set so that it stayed very cold in the restaurant. Even though it was 90 degrees outside, Teresa had shivered for most of the afternoon. She wished she had brought her favorite alpaca sweater!
Now she sat back and let the bright, powerful sun bathe her in its warmth. She was so glad her parents had installed a pool this spring. One of her favorite activities was to get her bathing suit on, slather on some coconut sunscreen, and lie back in a lounge chair, occasionally watching the glimmering water dance. After staring at it, mesmerized for several minutes, she often dozed off. If she got too hot, she'd awaken, and if someone was around, she would jump in the pool to cool off. (She never did this while alone...that was a family rule.)
For now, there was no thought of jumping in the cool pool. She was glad to get out of the air conditioning and sit under the bright blue sky.
After several minutes, Teresa's sister Jaime came out to join her.
"What are you doing?" Jaime asked.
Teresa thought it was obvious, but she knew Jaime was just trying to make conversation.
"I am enjoying the brilliant sky and the warm sunshine," Teresa explained. "It was so cold at work today."
"I know what you mean," Jaime answered. "I'm just glad to get outside. I helped Mom clean and sanitize the house all day. I wish I could work at a real job like you."
