Jason put the phone down on the table and ran to the kitchen. "Mom, I need your credit card!"
Mom turned to look at Jason with surprise on her face. "Why do you need my credit card?"
"The man on the phone said that I need it to pay for the shipping for the video game I just won! It's the latest game from Revel. All I have to do is pay $5.95 shipping and handling."
Mom wiped her hands on a towel. "Is the man still on the phone?"
Jason looked puzzled. "Yes. Why?"
"I want to talk to him," said Mom. She headed out of the kitchen, walked into the den, and picked up the phone.
Jason came into the room as Mom picked up the phone. "Hello," she said.
The voice on the other end answered, "Hello, Mrs. Wright."
"How do you know my name?" she asked.
"Jason gave me his name and address so I can send him his new video game. It's the latest release. The retail value is $39.95. But, all he has to do is pay $5.95 for shipping and handling. If you'll just give me your credit card information, he'll be all set."
Mom scowled. "I don't give my credit card information over the phone."
"You'll be perfectly safe," said the man on the line. "We use a secure phone line to take personal information. We wouldn't want anyone to be able to get it. There is so much identity theft and fraud out there today."
