Barack Obama was born in 1961 in Hawaii. His father was a black man from Kenya. His mother was a white woman from the U.S. They met in Hawaii. "Barack" means "blessed." Soon his parents split up. His mom married once more. The family moved far away. When he turned ten, his mother sent him to Hawaii. He lived with his Grandma Toot. His mom wanted him to go to a good school.
Obama did. Then he began college. He finished at Columbia. Then he moved to Chicago. He worked with poor people who had lost their jobs.
