National Game & Puzzle Week

Reading Comprehension for November 21

Professor Blankenship looked at his children in disgust. His entrance into the playroom had gone unnoticed. They lounged on the couch playing their mind-numbing video games. Their electronic handheld games were scattered around like used tissues. However, the books on the shelves were dusty, and the toys, board games, and puzzles were nestled untouched in their bins.

"This is ridiculous!" the professor declared. His sons looked at him owlishly. "When is the last time one of you exercised either your body or your mind?"

"Huh?" The boys glanced at each other. Then their attention slid back to the screen.

"Enough is enough," Professor Blankenship said. He pulled Bradley and Jeffrey up from the couch. "I've got something in the basement that you need to see."

"Aw, Dad, why'd you interrupt our game?" Bradley complained, trying to pull free.

"Yeah, we made it all the way to level 9! I can't believe this," Jeffrey whined.

The professor marched them down the stairs to the basement where his new invention sat.

"Oh look, Jeff, Dad invented a photo booth," Bradley said with a smirk.

"That's really lame, Dad," Jeffrey said, blinking. "Can we go now?"

Professor Blankenship eyed the boys with a grim smile. "Why don't you fellows humor your old man by climbing in and having your picture made?"
