Art Appreciation

Stephanie yawned in the back seat. Her mother was taking her and her sister Lynn to an art museum. Lynn enjoyed art, but Stephanie had never gotten into it. She would rather do something physically active, like playing tennis at the indoor court at the recreation center. However, Mom had insisted that she come along today because Lynn had gone along with Stephanie's idea of doing a winter hike last Saturday. Lynn would have preferred to stay home and read or do other things inside.

Stephanie sighed. It was only fair that she go along on this trip to the museum. Her sister had been a good sport about the hike. They pulled into the parking lot at the art museum. "Here we are," Mom said (even though it was obvious).

They got out of the car and walked into the main entrance. A large sign stood before them, pointing out various featured displays. Stephanie and Lynn looked at it while Mom paid the admission fee.

"This looks interesting," Lynn said, pointing to the sign. "They have a display of modern abstract art. Would you like to go see that first?"

Stephanie didn't care. She said, "I guess so."

Mom walked over to them. "Are you ready?"

"Yes," Lynn said, taking charge. "We'd like to go to the abstract art section."

"Okay," Mom said. "Lead the way."
