Anne Morrow Lindbergh

Most married couples have some interests in common, but usually they do activities on the ground. Charles and Anne Lindbergh, however, had fun in the air. Charles A. Lindbergh, the first man to fly solo across the Atlantic, shared many flights with his wife. Anne Lindbergh was also a pilot, as well as a best-selling author. She achieved many "firsts" for women in her life.
Anne Morrow was born in Englewood, New Jersey, on June 22, 1906. Most girls in the early 20th century were not encouraged to develop their minds, but Anne's parents felt differently. Her father was a lawyer, a Senator, and an ambassador to Mexico. Each day at 5 p.m. her mother read to her children. Her mother believed in education for women. She was once the president of Smith College and also wrote poetry, which may have inspired Anne to write later. The family spent a lot of time at the seashore in the summer. Anne grew up believing that she could do anything, and her life was full of achievements of all kinds.
