It was about 10:30 in the morning on a sunny Saturday in spring. I looked out my bedroom window and saw Grandpa out in his garden. I was blessed to live next door to my grandparents. I bounded downstairs and outside to talk to Grandpa, one of my best friends.
"Hi, Grandpa!" I greeted as I squatted down next to him.
"Hi, Squirt," Grandpa said, affectionately patting me on the shoulder.
"What are you doing today, Grandpa?"
"I'm picking asparagus," he replied.
I wrinkled my nose. "Yuk," I said.
Grandpa chuckled. "Asparagus is not so bad. I like how it tastes, and it's an interesting vegetable."
"How can asparagus be interesting?" I asked.
Grandpa stood up and stretched his long legs.
