A Week of Happiness

Mrs. Bowman gave the class an interesting assignment. "This week is Hunt for Happiness Week," she said, soon after the opening bell rang. "Your assignment is to write a journal entry every day this week about how you looked for happiness that day." She passed out small booklets that the students would use for this writing assignment.

Jerry rolled his eyes. He hated these writing assignments. Writing didn't come as easily to him as it did to his friend Kenny. Kenny seemed eager to get started.

They caught up with each other after class. "What a fun project!" Kenny said.

"In your opinion," Jerry retorted. "Hunting for happiness? What am I going to do to find happiness?"

"You seem like a pretty happy guy to me," Kenny said. "Aren't you?"

"Yes, generally, I'm in a pretty good mood."

"So why don't you write about the things that already make you happy?" Kenny suggested.

"Like when my dog wakes me up in the morning?" Jerry asked.

"Yes, that's a good start. You could also write about things you try to do each day because they make you feel good," Kenny continued. "When do you feel the best, for example?"
