Ralph stumbled through the front door of his home and flopped onto the couch. The ceiling fan created a delightfully cool breeze in the air conditioned room.
"Ahhhh," he said as he enjoyed the cool breeze.
Dad walked in and placed a tall glass of ice water in Ralph's hand.
"Thanks, Dad," he said, gulping down the cool liquid. He stopped when he reached the bottom. Then he began crunching the half-melted ice.
"Hot outside?" Dad asked, though it was obvious that he already knew the answer.
Ralph nodded his head. "I have never appreciated air conditioning like I do today."
"I'm sure Willis would be gratified," said Dad.
"Willis?"
"Willis H. Carrier. He's the one who came up with our modern air conditioning systems," said Dad as he settled into his easy chair.
