Explain the process that Helen Keller had to go through in order to learn how to speak.
Cryptomnesia is, literally, hidden memory. The term is used to explain the origin of experiences that people believe to be original but which are actually based on memories of events they've forgotten. Explain how cryptomnesia played a role in Helen Keller's story "The Frost King" resembling Margaret T. Canby's "The Frost Fairies."
The "Frost King" incident made a huge impact on Helen Keller's life. Due to the situation, she went into a depression for a while and even stopped writing letters to people and also gave up on creative writing. Why do you think this experience made such an impact? What do you think she learned from this? Do you think that she had gotten over this experience when she wrote The Story of My Life?
Helen Keller said that all of her experiences from the World's Fair helped her take a leap "from the little child's interest in fairy tales and toys to the appreciation of the real and the earnest in the workaday world." What were some of the things that she learned at the World's Fair in 1893?
When Helen Keller was studying in New York City, she claimed that Central Park was the only part of the city that was congenial to her. Explain why she felt so comfortable there.
Describe the challenges that Helen Keller faced while attending the Cambridge School for Young Ladies.
