Alexa, April's mom, wasn't exactly like Ted had pictured moms to be. How does this relate to the idiom "Don't judge a book by its cover"?
Think of a veteran that you know. Tell your classmates about this person in a brief oral speech written from the perspective of the veteran.
Ted wanted to be camouflaged in his schoolwork. Describe a time you wished you could be camouflaged and tell why you felt this way. How did you solve the problem?
The students of Room One at Red Prairie Learning Center cleaned their school, both inside and outside. What kind of volunteer work do you do at school? How does this work assist your school staff and provide a successful environment for learning?
Have you ever made a promise with someone? How did it turn out? Was the promise kept or broken? How would you have done things differently or would you have done things the same way?
In Chapter 12, when Mrs. Mitchell could not sleep because of the promise she made to Ted, what did you think she was going to do the next day? Write a letter to Mrs. Mitchell telling her whether you agree with her decision or disagree and why.
