Mrs. Henry was called to testify that she had seen James King in the drugstore the day Mr. Nesbitt had been killed. Explain why Ms. O'Brien didn't cross examine him after Mr. King's attorney was done questioning her.
There is some confusion about Steve's part in the robbery. He had been part of the conversation about robbing the drugstore, and he was supposed to be the lookout, but he didn't give them a sign when he left the drugstore. Explain if you think he was actually part of the robbery or not and why.
On page 183, Bobo mentions a bunch of numbers which supposedly described how he was caught after selling the cigarettes. List the numbers and describe what each one means.
A person is supposed
to be considered innocent until proven guilty
by a jury throughout a trial. Predict if Ms. O'Brien's questioning techniques with Bobo would be effective in proving Steve innocent of the crime he was being charged.
O'Brien says she and Steve need some friends in the courtroom to help their case. Make a list of people who you could count on to testify for you if you ever were involved with a trial and why they are important to you.
