Mr. Frazoli's Deli
By Mary L. Bushong

1     The door chimed as Angela Neuman pushed it open. She took a deep breath and sighed. There was something especially good about how a deli smells. Her mother pushed her forward.

2     "Don't stand in the doorway, dear," said Mrs. Neuman. "We don't have all day."

3     Angela walked up to each of the glass-fronted display cases. Every different item had a label telling what it was. There were Buffalo wings in sweet, spicy, and extra hot varieties. There were so many slices and kinds of cheese that she soon lost count of the number. In another case were containers full of many kinds of salad: tuna, potato, and pasta. The list went on and on. It was enough to make her head spin!

4     One of the men behind the counter had a jolly face. He was telling another customer a joke about a man with a fever in a hospital. Angela laughed at the punch line and the man winked at her. When he was done serving that customer, the jolly man turned to Angela.

5     "Can I help you with something?" he asked with a smile.
