1 When the bell rang at the end of the day, Lisa was one of the first girls to leave her classroom. She pulled her coat on over her dress and scrambled into her snow boots. In moments, she had her mittens on her hands and her backpack over her arm and she was out the door.
2 The sidewalks were patchy with ice and snow, but Lisa did not slow down much. If she hurried, she could beat her brother to the snowy hill behind the house. The long toboggan run they had made was sure to be lightning fast for sliding.
3 The tiny brass bells tinkled on the front door as she opened it. Lisa reminded herself to tell Mother where she was going before she went out.
4 Lisa was pulling on her snowsuit as she looked out the window and saw her brother, Todd, hurrying up the driveway. She grabbed her things and raced for the back door.
