Zack's Community Service Project

1     Zack was at his desk when he heard a knock on his door.
 
2     "Come in," said Zack. "Hi, Mom," he said as his mother came into his room.
 
3     "Hi, Zack. How's your homework coming?" asked Mom, setting down a pile of laundry on Zack's bed.
 
4     "Okay, I guess," replied Zack.
 
5     "Is there something I can help you with?" asked Mom.
 
6     "Yes, there is. I need to decide on where to volunteer for my community service project," said Zack. "I have to work ten hours as a volunteer and then do a report on my experience. When I picked this subject for social studies, I thought it would be easy to find something. But now, I don't know where to start."
 
7     "Have you considered the Rhode Island Community Farm?" asked Mom.
 
8     "What's the Rhode Island Community Farm?" asked Zack with a puzzled look on his face.
 
9     "The Rhode Island Community Farm is an organization that grows food for hungry people in our state. They work with local food banks to provide fresh vegetables to those who are in need. They have a farm at the University of Rhode Island. It's not too far from here; you could ride your bike. I'm sure they would welcome your help," explained Mom.
