Vietnam - Geography
By Ekaterina Zhdanova-Redman

1     Vietnam is a beautiful country in Southeast Asia. It lies along the South China Sea. It is a narrow country. It is wet and warm in Vietnam. And because it is wet and warm, Vietnam has many interesting plants and animals.

2     For thousands of years, people in Vietnam have lived along its rivers. The Red, Ma, and Mekong rivers are some of the biggest rivers in Vietnam. The land around these rivers is very low and very wet. A long time ago, Vietnamese people learned how to grow rice in these low wetlands. Growing rice is very important to Vietnamese people.

3     Rice is used in many dishes in Vietnam. It is one of the most common parts of Vietnamese meals. And even though it's very common in Vietnam, rice isn't very easy to grow. It takes a lot of very hard work and patience to grow rice.
