The Hodag

1     Have you ever heard of a Hodag? There are only two places in the world where you can see one. Both are in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. One is at the Logging Museum and the other is at the Chamber of Commerce Office.

2     The story began with a man named Gene Shepard. He first saw the Hodag in 1896. He told the story and later showed people a picture of the animal. According to Mr. Shepard, after he took the beast's picture, it jumped out at him. He said the animal was 30 inches high and 7 feet long. It had 12 gleaming white horns sticking out of its backbone and 2 more horns sticking out of its head. Its jaw had 2 tusks sticking out on either side, and its claws were razor sharp on all 4 paws. Mr. Shepard said the animal loved to eat white bulldogs.
