¹     Wendy decided to stay after school. She wanted to talk to her teacher, Miss Steele. She asked her friends Tim and Tess to join her.
 
²     "What do you want to ask Miss Steele?" asked Tess.
 
³     "I need to know what a leader is," answered Wendy.
 
⁴     "Do you think Miss Steele will know the answer?" asked Tim.
 
⁵     "I'm sure she will," answered Wendy.
 
⁶     The children knocked on the classroom door. "Hello, Wendy," called out Miss Steele. "Is there something I can do for you children?"
 
⁷     "I would like to ask you a question, Miss Steele. Do you mind if my friends come in, too?"
 
⁸     "Of course not," said Miss Steele. "Who are your friends?"
