An expert ax man named Rex Oxford lived in Texas. Rex worked hard to take care of his six kids. For example, when his boss had extra work, Rex handled it. He wanted the extra money for those six kids. He worked every day except Sunday. That was the day he spent with his family.
Rex was as strong as an ox! It was a sad day when he hurt himself. He swung his ax. A fox ran by. As Rex looked at the fox, his ax missed the tree. The heavy ax kept going. Rex tried to stop it. Then pain exploded in his wrist. He had to drop the ax. Tears came to his eyes. The pain was extreme!
Rex asked a friend to drive him to the doctor's office. Dr. Xena Waxler asked Rex to extend his wrist. Then she examined it.
"Can you fix it?" Rex asked. "I need to get back to work!"
"I need to get an x-ray to see the extent of the damage," Dr. Waxler replied. "Don't expect to go back to work today. You may have broken something!"
