Beauty in Stillness
By Jody Williams

1     Have you ever taken the time to look at a flower? Georgia O'Keeffe took the time. At first, she saw flowers as small. Then, she stopped to really look at them. She saw all of the details. That is what she painted. She didn't paint them small. She painted the flowers very big. She became a famous artist.

2     Georgia O'Keeffe was born in Wisconsin on November 15, 1887. Her family was from Ireland. They moved the U.S. She lived in Wisconsin and Virginia. She became interested in art when she was 17. Georgia went to the Art Institute in Chicago. When she was 25, she moved to Texas to be an art teacher. She wasn't like any other teacher. One day she put a life-size horse on a table in her classroom. The students were to draw it.
