2 There is no cure for muscular dystrophy. Doctors are learning how to help. They give tests to people who may have MD. More boys than girls have MD. Some people are born with it. Most kids have to use wheelchairs by the time they are 12 years old. Some have to use machines to help them breathe. Some use robots to help them do things during the day. People with MD have to do exercises. This helps their muscles get stronger.
3 On Labor Day there is a telethon. A telethon helps raise money. It is on TV. The Muscular Dystrophy Telethon lasts for over 21 hours. It raises money for research. People all over the world call in to give money to help. Many TV and movie stars perform. They ask people to call and help.
