¹     Ted went on a hike through the woods. He was with his father, his brother, and two friends. He liked going on hikes with them.
 
²     At the end of the hike, Ted felt very warm.
 
³     "Did you have fun?" his dad asked Ted.
 
⁴     "Yes," Ted said, "but I am hot. Why did you make me wear long pants?"
 
⁵     "I wanted you to be safe from the ticks," his dad said.
 
⁶     "What are ticks?" Ted asked.
 
⁷     "A tick is a mite," his dad said. "There are many kinds. Here we often see the deer tick and the dog tick. You've seen the dog ticks on Cody's fur. A deer tick is very tiny."
 
⁸     "Tick check!" Ted's dad yelled.
