Staying Cool
By Brenda B. Covert

1     Allegra Kingsley was a young writer with an itch to be published. Her mother quickly tired of hearing about it, so early in the summer she suggested that Allegra write something to submit to the small-town newspaper.

2     "Look!" Mrs. Kingsley said, pointing to an article in the paper. "A 12-year-old boy wrote this! If they'll publish his article on the adventures of camping, maybe they'll publish something of yours."

3     Allegra peered doubtfully at the article. "Maybe he's the editor's son."
