Ocean Waves
By Sharon Fabian

1     To a surfer, it all depends on the waves. When the waves are good, surfers drop whatever they are doing and head to the beach. Then they paddle out past the breakers and wait for just the right wave to catch a ride to shore. Surfers have been known to travel all over the globe searching for a beach that has perfect waves.

2     Ocean waves are also a favorite of artists. Many painters have set up their easel on the sand to try to paint the sea with its beautiful waves breaking on the beach. Even picture postcards from beach resorts often have scenes of breaking waves.

3     However, not all waves are the pretty white caps that we see at the beach. A wave can be anything from a ripple in a puddle to a giant destructive wall of water.
